Merika
Lang
MERIKA LANG (founding member), from Northport, New York; attends
St. Anthony’s High School in South Huntington, New York. She
excels in her academics participating in honors and
AP courses and is a member of the National Honor Society and the United States Achievement Academy. Merika is a recipient of their St. Bonaventure Award for an overall average of 95+ for three years and is on their Academic Honor Roll. She is involved in various activities
at St. Anthony’s participating in the Chorus, where she serves as an officer and the St. Anthony’s
Girls Varisity Swim Team. Merika is in the Gregorian Schola, which an elite choral group at
St. Anthony's High School.
She is also an accomplished pianist where she participates in NYSSMA
and GUILD for the past eight years. She participates in NYSSMA for
voice also. She recently made the All-State Chorus from NYSSMA and performed in the NYSCAME/SCMEA
All-County Chorus in Suffolk County as a soprano.
Merika truly enjoys music and performing as she has participated
in her school plays as well as community theater in St. Hugh's Productions. Merika began
singing at a young age and sang for
St. Hugh of Lincoln Parish children’s
choir for seven years.
She is now a cantor there.
Singing at the nursing homes and community events proved to be very fullfilling for Merika
where she realized that sharing her time and talent for others is
a pleasurable opportunity. She feels that participating in another realm of fund-raising for
children with disabilities is very worthwhile. MusiCare is a venue where
Merika
can use her abilities for the benefit of others which is something
that she truly enjoys.
